Catalog Head
A catalog manager is responsible for overseeing the creation, maintenance, and organization of a company’s product catalog. Their primary role is to ensure that the catalog is accurate, up to date, and effectively presented to customers or clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Catalog Development: Collaborate with product managers, marketing teams, and suppliers to gather product information, specifications, and images to create a comprehensive catalog. Ensure that the catalog accurately reflects the company’s products or services.
- Catalog Maintenance: Regularly review and update the catalog to add new products, remove discontinued items, and modify existing listings. Ensure that product information, pricing, and availability are accurate and up to date.
- Data Management: Organize and manage product data within the catalog, including categorization, tagging, and attributes. Maintain data integrity and quality control to ensure consistency and accuracy across all catalog entries.
- Content Creation: Write persuasive and SEO-friendly product descriptions, highlighting key features, benefits, and unique selling points. Optimize product titles, meta tags, and other content elements for search engine visibility and improved conversion rates.
- Catalog Maintenance: Regularly update the catalog to add new products, remove discontinued items, and modify existing listings. Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring accurate stock availability information is displayed to customers.
- Catalog Presentation: Collaborate with design or creative teams to present the catalog in an attractive and user-friendly format. Consider the use of visuals, layout, and navigation to enhance the user experience and facilitate product discovery.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, including marketing, sales, e-commerce, and procurement, to understand their catalog-related needs and align catalog strategies with overall business objectives.
- Performance Analysis: Monitor catalog performance metrics, such as conversion rates, click-through rates, and customer feedback, to identify areas for improvement. Make data-driven decisions to optimize the catalog’s effectiveness and impact on sales or conversions.
- User Experience Optimization: Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create an intuitive and user-friendly catalog layout. Ensure easy navigation, effective filtering and sorting options, and seamless integration with search functionalities to enhance the customer shopping experience.
What we are Looking for:
- Must have 8+ years of relevant working experience.
- Strong understanding of eCommerce platforms, online retail best practices, and industry trends.
- Familiarity with product taxonomy, categorization, and online merchandising techniques.
- Data Management and Analysis: Proficiency in managing and manipulating product data within eCommerce platforms or product information management (PIM) systems. Experience with data analytics tools to derive insights and make data-driven decisions.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous and accurate when working with product data, ensuring that information is correct and consistent across the catalog.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create clear, concise, and compelling product descriptions that resonate with the target audience.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders, including vendors, suppliers, marketing teams, and designers. Ability to translate business requirements into effective catalog strategies.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for catalog optimization. Proficiency in using data analytics tools or platforms is a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with eCommerce platforms, content management systems (CMS), and digital marketing tools. Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, or other web development languages is advantageous.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced eCommerce environment.
